Route Description
The Bloško jezero Lake (or Bloke Lake) is one of the most popular destinations for family trips! Cyclists, walkers and hikers love to come here to engage in sporting activities. In winter, many ice skaters come here and glide on the lake’s frozen surface. In summer, the warm and fresh water attracts countless avid swimmers.
Many kids like to spend their summer holidays doing various organized activities happening by the lake or play on the playground. Numerous fishermen come here to fish for carp and pike. The lake is of artificial origin and it formed as a result of tourism workers damming the nearby stream around 1970.
At the beginning of the last decade, the municipality of Bloke started a comprehensive regulation of the lake and its surroundings, as well as the regulation of transport and environmental infrastructure. When leaving the Bloke area, you will take home all the crazy adventures you experienced at the Bloško jezero Lake and its surroundings.
How to access the lake: The Bloke Plateau (“Bloška planota”) lies on the extreme edge of the Littoral-Inner Carniola statistical region between the Cerknica Plain (“Cerkniško polje”) and the Loka and Ribnica valleys.
The municipality of Bloke has several access points:
- via the A1 Primorska (Slovene Littoral) region motorway Unec exit,
- via the villages of Cerknica and Bloška Polica;
- from the village of Velike Lašče via Lužarjev breg and
- from the Ribniška dolina Valley via Boncar Hill.
Interesting Facts
A major tourist attraction around here happens to be the Glamping Lake Bloke.
Janez Hiti, the owner of the glamping, is responsible for all the wooden layouts in the glamp (houses, jacuzzis, swings, playgrounds, gardens, wooden bears, fences, forest men, etc.). All the buildings here are built of wood only and are very homely. Upon your arrival, two wooden forest men in front of the entrance welcome you to the glamping area.

SNACK BAR BRUNARICA (Brunarica ob Bloškem jezeru)
This place has about 300 seats available (more than 100 under the roof), and for more peace you can find your spot anywhere by the lake. Snack Bar Brunarica serves excellent cold cuts (homemade dried meats, sausages, cheese, vegetable, and bread), spoon dishes ("kaula", potatoes, beans, turnips and cabbage, etc.) and homemade desserts (apple strudel, “štruklji”, dumplings, pancakes). Toddlers (and adults) love to hang out at an A-tested wooden playground.
For the more romantic souls, the staff prepares a picnic basket and the couples can choose their own spot around the lake. (Source: glampingbloke.si website)
Snack Bar Brunarica is open in summer or by making a prior reservation.

You simply must visit the Bloško jezero Lake in the summer. It goes without saying that a swimsuit and a towel are a must-have in your bag! Oh, and water wings, and snorkeling gear, and ... a strong parent to carry it all :)
