Route Description
The Vogar Alpine Meadow has one of the most beautiful views over Bohinj Lake, which appears as if it was heart-shaped from this perspective :).
Vogar is an alpine meadow sprawled over the mountain at the altitude of 1,100 meters, full of meadows and shepherd's huts, which are now converted into holiday accommodation. The ascent is quite steep for younger kids, but the fact that many paragliders jump off the take off area on Vogar, will give them extra motivation to manage the hike.
You can park in a larger payable parking lot in the village of Stara Fužina, from where you will walk for less than two hours to the destination. However, you can drive further on and park at a sluice parking lot. From that location, your hike is shortened by more than an hour. However, this second option will cost you 12 euros.
It is necessary to wear appropriate footwear because the terrain consists of larger stones. After a steep ascent, turn left at a sign indicating the paraglider take-off point just before the mountain meadow. From there you need about 10 minutes to the mountain hut (Kosijev dom) and another 10 minutes if you want to go to the Love Bench, where you can take a great photo.
Interesting Facts
Shepherds who earned their bread by grazing the cattle once inhabited the little cottages on the mountain meadows. These little houses have been turned into holiday accommodation.

Kosijev dom Mountain Hut
The mountain hut is open from 15 June until 30 September. They have a whole range of dishes that nicely warm hungry stomachs after a strenuous climb. The children were enthusiastic about the homemade “štruklji”, which we gobbled up in no time. After eating their meal, they happily occupied a set of swings outside. In the hut, you can get a stamp, which confirms your presence at this location.

The Vogar Alpine Meadow is very interesting because of the paragliders that jump off towards the valley. Children will be definitely blown away by this spectacle. You can even fly a paraglide in tandem with an experienced pilot or a paragliding instructor. No prior experience is required. All you need are good hiking shoes and some courage. An instructor or tandem pilot will teach you what to do at the takeoff point and at landing.
