The dragon's unusual journey is an outdoor game that children and their parents or caretakers can enjoy together as it allows them to explore important parts of Ljubljana's history in a fresh, creative and fun way.
The urban adventure, which takes place in the inner city is available in Slovene and English, lasts 1.5 hours and is suitable for children from 5 to 10 years of age, who can solve tasks with the help of their parents or caretakers. Children from the age of 11 are encouraged to play independently.
Equipped with a comic book, a map and several props, the participants set out on a hunt for eight interesting stories from different periods of Ljubljana's rich past. The legend of Ljubo the dragon, a symbol and protector of the city, who fell asleep for 2,000 years and awoke in a completely new environment and society, is here to help them with task and puzzle solving. By doing so, they discover the history and culture of Ljubljana from times of the Roman Emona, Middle and New Ages, Baroque and Art Nouveau to the period of Jože Plečnik, a famous architect, who gave the city its current appearance in the early 20th century.
The urban adventure for the youngest citizens and visitors of Ljubljana was developed by Ljubljana Tourism in cooperation with the Escapebox.

Do you know the Legend of the Foundation of Ljubljana?
Legend has it that Ljubljana was founded by Jason, the hero of Greek mythology who stole the Golden Fleece from King Aeëtes and then fled aboard the Argo with his comrades, known as the Argonauts, across the Black Sea and up the Danube and the Sava River until they reached the Ljubljanica River. On their way to the coast, they stopped at a large lake in the marshes near the source of the Ljubljanica, where a dragon was said to dwell, whereupon Jason fought, defeated and killed the mighty worm. This is the same dragon that is featured on the Ljubljana City coat of arms and on the Dragon Bridge.
