Route Description
The Klevevž Natural Spa is one of the most interesting family trip locations that you must visit ASAP! It is situated in the Lower Carniola region, right next to the village of Grič.
The easiest way to find it is with Google Maps, but be careful; you have to type in “Klevevška Toplica”. If you start your journey in Ljubljana, it is best to turn onto the highway, drive in the direction of Novo mesto, turn off the motorway at the Kronovo exit, and then continue towards Šmarjeta. When you arrive at the village of Grič, look out for a sign that directs you to the Klevevški grad Castle and the hot spring. The footpath is also suitable for baby strollers, however, it is best if you leave the pram at the mill and continue on foot carrying the baby.
In winter, you can notice the steam that is rising from the natural pool due to the temperature difference. Gentle mists above the water invite you to immerse yourself into the natural pool. The thermal water gushes to the surface at 24°C/75°F and is ideal for swimming even in winter. However, you have to change into a swimsuit with virtually no privacy since there are no bathrooms here.
Jumping into the warm water in winter is a special experience, but we still advise you to bring warm clothes or a blanket for when you come out of the pool.
There is also an abandoned mill near the natural spring, and you can visit the Klevevški grad Castle or climb the Homec Hill. How awesome, even more ideas for a family trip!
Interesting Facts
Thermal and mineral springs in Slovenia all have temperatures above 20°C and contain at least 1000 mg of dissolved solids and/or 250 mg of naturally dissolved CO2 per liter of water. The body of rock that holds the thermal pool is carbonate rock (dolomite, not so much limestone), which is accumulated with heat reserves. As the geometric gradient is different in individual parts of Slovenia, the temperature of thermal water captured at the same depths is also different. Slovenia is truly a country of thermal springs, just think about how many different spas we have on such a small territory.

Turistična kmetija pri Martinovih (Pri Martinovih Tourist Farm)
The main guiding principle on the farm is to produce more home-made and healthy food and prepare dishes for all the guests by recreating old recipes from rustic cuisine.
The farm lies below the slopes of the Gorjanci Hills and is encircled with vine-growing hills. The wooden house is at least 250-300 years old and is a monument. The farm is very “alive” as they have many animals that children can cuddle and feed (bunnies, chickens, cows, donkeys, horses, pigs, sheep, cats and a dog named Nero). Kids can ride donkeys and horses and collect chicken eggs. The owner takes the children on a short trip with a tractor, which is a particularly nice experience for them. The farm also has a playground where children can play carefree and they can organize creative workshops.
The farm is only less than 1/2 hour drive away from Klevevž. We highly recommend you stop by!
Enjoy some good food, hospitable service and beautiful surroundings in the company of your family :).

Emergency equipment:
SWIMWEAR and one large towel. And one blanket. And a warm tea party. Hop into the water. No one will believe you that you bathed in an outside pool in March.
